The suite of rooms, designed by John Shaw in the 1830’s, needed refurbishment. Our outline designs would create equal access, toilets, a fully equipped kitchen and a meeting room.

We also seek to subdivide a room with a new joinery and glazed screen to create a vestry and church office. Historic fabric would be repaired, new electrical, heating and hot water services and the portraits cleaned and lit.

The first and second phases of the masterplan realised new exterior doors and porch gates and the creation of multi-use rooms for church and community use to the first floor of the west end with toilets to the ground floor. The third phase provided a further multi-use room and a kitchen behind an oak and walnut panelled screen with fixed glass panels set in bronze.

Interior decoration and conservation work to the main transepts, the seventeenth century Quire and side aisles undertaken in limewash, distemper and lime plaster repairs.

Repair of the early twelfth century clerestory to the Chapel of St Thomas with lime mortar to replace modern plaster and limewashing. Re-gilding and cleaning of Nicholson’s tester.

Refurbishment of the main entrance works with new automated south doors with contemporary engraved glass panels and internally a new stone ramp with blacksmith made handrails with brass caps to improve the accessible and every-day entrance. The project was tightly managed to ensure completion within a very tight timescale to enable Easter worship.
