Daniel’s concept designs for a new timber framed house, with internal joinery detailing, are being realised by the client with assistance from their American architect.

The house should be ready for occupation by autumn of 2018.

The grade II* listed organ holds a special historic value over and above its 1794 provenance as it is directly connected with William Wilberforce, the Clapham Sect and the anti-slavery movement. Its original home, before moving to St John’s in 1845, was Holy Trinity Clapham, the church where Wilberforce and his colleagues developed their political crusade to rid the world of slavery

Heritage Lottery Funding enabled the organ to be fully restored and to receive a contemporary oak, walnut and glass-sided case which will enable it to be used for educational purposes. Two permanent exhibitions have also been created around the organ; one on the history of Notting Hill and the other on the history of the organ.

The work to the grade one listed seventeenth century Hall described by Pepys as ‘….a new old fashioned hall’ included a new limecrete floor internally with a marble finish inspired by engravings within the Library’s collection, redecoration and repairs to the bookcases, stone cleaning of the magnificent frieze and cornice and extensive repairs to the parapets, cornice and finials with a mason and two apprentices on site throughout the work.

New lead gutters were provided. Energy efficient lighting and a conservation underfloor heating system maintains a steady RH suitable for the Library’s internationally important books, controlled by multiple sensors and computer monitoring. We led the design team, acted as contract administrator and led visits to site by staff and other groups. Shortlisted for the RICS award 2016 and featured in Church Building and Heritage Review March/April 2016, Lambeth Palace Library Annual Review 2016.

The suite of rooms, designed by John Shaw in the 1830’s, needed refurbishment. Our outline designs would create equal access, toilets, a fully equipped kitchen and a meeting room.

We also seek to subdivide a room with a new joinery and glazed screen to create a vestry and church office. Historic fabric would be repaired, new electrical, heating and hot water services and the portraits cleaned and lit.

Since 2001 numerous projects have been undertaken at the grade II* listed Central Hall in Westminster, which is a thriving church and a successful conference centre. These projects have included:

• Interior refurbishment projects comprising stone and marble cleaning, new colour schemes, restoration of light fittings, repairs and French polishing of paneling;
• Creation of the Chapel as a day-to-day place of worship;
• Health and safety upgrades, such as the insertion of contemporary detailed fire screens, upgrading of doors for fire resistance and the installation of barriers to roof edges;
• Providing equal access by the automation of doors, forming new lift shafts and platform lifts, automated stage lifts, induction loops and the creation of toilets;
• Energy efficiency projects replacing tungsten and halogen lamps with low energy flexible lighting schemes.

The quinquennial inspection noted issues with continuing decay to brickwork and open joints to the mid fifteenth century towers commonly called ‘Lollards Tower’.

The repair work to the grade 1 listed structure will replace decayed bricks and rebuild leaning parapets and undertake extensive lime mortar repointing as well as renewing roof finishes to include insulation.

Undertaken in two phases whilst the public café and the rest of the building continued in full operation, most of the work being undertaken during night works, the refurbishment work removed later subdivision walls, restored fibrous plaster cornices and provided new oak and glass fire doors.

The work included the design of specially designed and manufactured pendant light fittings with LEDs.

The fine mid nineteenth century house is listed and within a conservation area. The house is semi-detached of four stories of brick with painted stone and render details and with a fine Greek revival style front door.

The interior had been partially stripped out and was not weathertight. Our work secured listed building consent for alterations including new joinery and panelled doors, staircase balustrade, plaster cornices as well as the replacement of a single glazed modern conservatory with a zinc clad insulated room with a garden balcony.

Extensive repairs were undertaken including new load bearing studwork partitions to replace steel beams. The interior was refitted with complete new services, bathrooms, kitchen and built in joinery.
